Los Cabos All-Inclusive Resorts: Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa

Best resorts in los Cabos for adults

It's easy to become jaded in this job. I spend a lot of my time in some of the very best resorts in the world, and after a while, they can start to run together. So when an experience sticks with you long after it's over, you know it has to be something special. In the summer of 2022, David and I set off on a road trip to cover the entire Baja peninsula. Before we set out, we had the chance to stay at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, one of the best Los Cabos resorts. For me, it’s an experience that I’m still thinking about.

The resort opened in 2018 but a planned expansion was put on hold during the pandemic. When we visited, the resort was back to its efforts of opening new room towers, one of which is scheduled to open this year (if it hasn't already). When we visited, the resort was intimate in size. In fact, it was the perfect resort size, if you ask me. I'm not super jazzed about the expansion, which will add more restaurants, bars, and a lazy river. I thought the vibe of the property was simply perfect as one of the best resorts in Los Cabos for adults and one of the best resorts in Los Cabos for families. But unfortunately it's not up to me.

That said, I do not think the quality of the resort or the quality of the services will suffer with the expansion. It's just going to become more crowded. Still, for now, you can visit what I consider to be one of the best Los Cabos all-inclusive resorts on a seemingly private stretch of Baja beach and escape into a world of fabulous cuisine, dramatic sunsets, rugged landscape, and a lot of five-star amenities.

So if you're looking to book one of the best Los Cabos resorts, read on for my full review of Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa.

And if you're so inclined to book it for yourself, you can do so right here.

Like I said up top, I think this resort is perfect as is. I loved the intimacy. It had plenty of different areas to experience, and the room count isn’t so high that you feel overwhelmed anywhere. The adults-only pool was just as appealing to me as the activity pool. I loved the oceanfront infinity pool with the swim-up bar, as well, which is where we made several friends (a pastime you know we always enjoy). It’s this area that makes it one of the best resorts in Los Cabos for adults.

What’s great about the resort is that you can choose if you want it to be all-inclusive or traditional European Plan. If you are planning to venture out to the restaurants of Los Cabos, then you can book the European plan. Many rooms have kitchens, too, if you plan to cook. If you just want to chill at the resort, then I would suggest booking the all-inclusive option. If you do decide on that option, you’ll be getting one of the best 5-star all-inclusive resorts in Cabo.

The staff at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa is top-notch, as well. There is something special when staff remembers guests by name, as well as their food and drink preferences. Everyone we encountered made us feel like we had been guests for years.

I really would need to see what the resort will be like after the expansion is over. Hopefully the intimate atmosphere will remain, despite the dramatic increase in room count. I really hope so — the vibe of this hotel was just right when we visited in August 2022.

We had a lot of fun at this resort. While the beach here is not safe for swimming (as is the case with most Los Cabos resorts), it is really beautiful to look at. In fact, you'll get some of the most spectacular sunsets right out the back of the resort.

But what the hotel lacks in swimmable beach, it makes up for in pool scenes. Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa has a few different pool scenes to choose from, which is another reason it’s one of the best resorts in Los Cabos for adults and one of the best resorts in Los Cabos for families.

The adults-only pool is an oceanfront oasis with elevated cabanas where adults can eat lunch from the Sunset Bar. A separate oceanfront infinity pool is attached to the residence section of the resort, but it is totally open to hotel guests. We spent a lot of our time here because it has a swim-up bar and a social atmosphere.

But we also made our way over to the activity pool, which is, quite frankly, a ton of fun. The massive central lagoon-style pool is big enough for stand up paddle boarding. A second section of the lagoon pool is dedicated to two waterslides and a rope swing, from which you can launch into a much deeper section of the pool. We spent *many* hours going down waterslides and taking videos of ourselves jumping from the rope swing. I love a luxury resort that is equal parts elegant and fun, without feeling like you're being overrun with kids. Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa nailed it.

Los Cabos Resorts: The Rooms at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

The rooms at the resort are all basically brand new, with a sleek, comfortable, cowboy-chic design. All rooms are considered suites here, with tons of space, natural light, and private balconies. All rooms have spa-inspired bathrooms with whirlpool tubs, too. The best rooms to book here are the Master Suites, in my opinion, which have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, and walk-in closet.

5-Star All-Inclusive Resorts in Cabo: The Dining at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

Every meal at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa was memorable. We arrived before our room was ready so we were escorted down to the Sunset Bar where we had a stellar lunch of sushi and shrimp tacos with a beautiful ocean view.

All day dining is at Anica, which has gorgeous views from its patio and fire pits. This was where we had a fabulous dinner of grilled meat and seafood, along with tuna tiradito and a charcuterie board. Be sure to book a table for sunset. You will not be disappointed.

Guests of the resort also have access to the restaurants at the resort's sister property, Grand Solmar at Land's End. A free shuttle will take you between the hotels.

But perhaps my favorite dining experience was the romantic lunch we had arranged for us as part of our decadent spa treatment, which I will explain in the next section...

Right at the top I'm going to say that the spa at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort Golf & Spa got the highest marks from me all around. I absolutely loved the spa and haven't really found another spa that measures up to the experience I had.

The oceanfront, outdoor spa consists of thatched-roof huts that face out toward the ocean with one exposed wall so that the sea breeze is a consistent part of the spa experience. At the center of the spa are pool-front cabanas that wreath a central hot tub.

The spa menu has a variety of traditional massages and treatments, but I highly recommend booking one of their signature Experiences. David and I tried the Tamma Wakoe Couples experience, an 80-minute massage that was truly *next level* compared to other massages I've had at resorts. I literally had to peel David off the table when it was over, and he is not a massage person.

After the best massage of my life, we were handed two glasses of Champagne in the central hot tub and were then brought to the Sunset Bar where a lunch pairing was waiting for us. Prior to our spa experience, we selected menu items, as well as whatever we wanted to drink — Veuve Clicquot, of course! Our meal consisted of tomato salad, mushroom risotto, and an assortment of satay skewers.

It was, without a doubt, my favorite spa experience I've ever had at a resort in Mexico.
