Cabo All-Inclusive Resorts: Grand Velas Los Cabos

los cabos resorts all inclusive

Remember that time we got stuck in Baja because of Hurricane Kay? If you were watching my Instagram stories during the month of September then you probably do because I would not shut up about it. It’s not that it was a traumatic experience for *us* (it was for many people), but it did delay our trip significantly and forced us to drive the entire peninsula (a 20+-hour trip) in less than three days. Fortunately, the adventure ended with a visit to the super luxurious Grand Velas Los Cabos, one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, which was a very, very welcome end to an otherwise hectic and unscheduled journey.

Wow. That pretty much sums up our experience at one of the top Cabo all-inclusive resorts. Just, wow. From the moment we arrived we felt the grit and grime from the road melt away as we stared out to an endless swath of blue ocean views. A glass of champagne on arrival, a quick gaze out to sea, and it was off to our Grand Class Corner Suite, an oceanfront room with plunge pool on the terrace.

I’ll get into the details below, but when this resort says it’s all-inclusive and luxury, they really mean it. Top shelf everything, fabulous food, beautiful pools, a decadent spa, and a great location has skyrocketed this resort to the top of my list. Grand Velas has resorts across Mexico, but none of them has blown me away quite like Grand Velas Los Cabos, one of the top Los Cabos resorts, all-inclusive.

So let’s get into it, shall we? Read on to read my review of Grand Velas Los Cabos. And if you feel so inclined to book it for yourself, you can do that right here.

Los Cabos Resorts, All-Inclusive: The Vibe of Grand Velas Los Cabos

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

The entire resort experience begins with a glass of complimentary champagne on the lobby terrace overlooking the pools and the ocean. It does not get much better than that. Except that it does here at Grand Velas Los Cabos, which is why it is definitely one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico.

The entire vibe of the resort is relaxed, but upscale, with tiered pools and breezy, open-air spaces. Restaurants are decorated in their own different styles so you feel like you’re getting something new with each experience. Spaces are immaculately kept, and staff goes above and beyond to make you feel warm and welcome.

By now many of you know that we love to socialize with other couples at resorts, and I will say it was a bit difficult to make friends at Grand Velas Los Cabos. But for many travelers, talking to strangers is a low priority and you’ll find you can keep your privacy pretty easily here.

Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico: The Amenities at Grand Velas Los Cabos

Overall Score: Above Average

I loved the pools at Grand Velas Los Cabos. The oceanfront pool is reserved for adults only, while the upper two pools are family-friendly. It’s great when a resort can be good for couples, friends, and families.

Anyway, the pool scene is top-notch. The beach left something to be desired - specifically because there was not one. But that’s because Hurricane Kay washed all the sand out to sea so it was just a patch of rocks where a beach used to be. However, based on photos it seems like the beach is pretty small. And much of the beaches in Los Cabos aren’t safe for swimming, which is why the pool game is so strong at the best Cabo all-inclusive resorts.

Grand Velas Los Cabos also has a great location right on the tourist corridor, about 25 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Best Hotel in Los Cabos, All-Inclusive: The Rooms at Grand Velas Los Cabos

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

As I mentioned earlier, we were in a Grand Class Corner Suite and it was fantastic. All rooms at Grand Velas Los Cabos are considered to be suites, but the Grand Class Corner Suites are the closest to the ocean (yes to sounds of the waves all night!). They also come with plunge pools on the terrace.

The starting room category is the Ambassador Suite, which is oceanview and starts at 1,000 square feet, so you’re really winning no matter which room category you’re in. All rooms are fully all-inclusive, and that means all food and all top-shelf liquor. Mini bars are fully stocked with beer and bottles of wine, and all rooms come with a complimentary bottle of artisanal tequila. Oh! The resort also includes Don Julio 70, which is one of my absolute favorite sipping tequilas.

Beds are cozy and plump with pillows. Bathrooms have a jacuzzi tub and a rainfall shower. I love a spacious bathroom where my lengthy list of products has enough room to space out.

Cabo All-Inclusive Resorts: The Dining at Grand Velas Los Cabos

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

We only had two nights at Grand Velas Los Cabos. Many guests stay for five nights or more, so they have all the opportunity to try the many different restaurants the resort has. We could only sample a few of them, but I was so impressed with each one.

Our first dinner was at Velas 10, the seafood restaurant and steakhouse. David and I shared the tomahawk steak for two, and I thought it was simply decadent. The crust on the steak was perfect and salty, the meat inside was juicy and tender. We loaded up on sides, like the mashed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese. The macaroni was better, in my opinion. We also got a Cesar salad, which was excellent. The meal starts with homemade chocolate bread and a side of bone marrow butter, too. Do not skip this!

Poolside food was excellent, as well. We had tuna tiradito, which was fresh and juicy, and shrimp tacos al pastor topped with a green sauce and nopales (cactus). The presentation wasn’t exactly photogenic, but the taste was sublime.

Our last dining experience was at the Cocina de Autor, an eight-course tasting menu and wine pairing. Every dish in this experience was a wonderful surprise, though I’ll admit the end of the meal became fuzzy for me because of all the wine. I do remember that I went to bed extremely full and happy.

Los Cabos Resorts, All-Inclusive: The Wellness at Grand Velas Los Cabos

Overall Score: Extremely Memorable

We were treated to a spa experience at Grand Velas Los Cabos and it was certainly one for the record books. Our couples massage was customized with aromas, pressure, and style. I went for the basil scent and deep tissue massage, which was slow and precise. I know it’s a good massage when my brain actually switches off and I fall asleep. Even David, notoriously critical of spa experiences, said it was one of the best massages he’s ever had.

Prior to the massage we did the Water Ritual, which is your classic hydrotherapy circuit with steam rooms, sauna, ice rooms, and then the pools with the massage jets. I don’t typically like spending extra time doing this because I’d rather just get to the massage, but this was a really nice experience for those who enjoy hydrotherapy.

I did use the gym while we were at the resort, and it was very well-equipped with cardio equipment, weights, and machines. It had everything you might need to keep up with your fitness goals.
